Air Peace has grounded a scheduled flight from Warri to Lagos after a bird strike occurred during the aircraft’s landing at Osubi Airport in Delta State.
The airline released a statement on Friday, issued by spokesperson Osifo‑Whiskey Efe, noting that the aircraft was immediately removed from service for safety inspections following the incident.
Engineers performed an initial assessment upon the aircraft’s arrival and found that the landing gear required additional examination.
“Preliminary inspections revealed the need for further checks on the landing gear, necessitating the grounding of the aircraft in accordance with established aviation safety procedures,” the statement read.
Consequently, Air Peace cancelled the aircraft’s scheduled return flight from Osubi to Lagos.
The carrier said it had arranged hotel accommodation in Osubi for affected passengers while they awaited the resumption of their travel plans.
Air Peace expressed regret over the disruption and apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation.
Reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety, the airline emphasized that operational decisions are guided by strict adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
“At Air Peace, safety remains our foremost priority,” the airline said.
“While disruptions of this nature are regrettable, every operational decision is guided by our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance,” it added.
The airline also thanked passengers for their patience, understanding and cooperation, and assured them that further information would be provided as developments unfold.
