Seeking to enhance Nigeria’s performance at next month’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) announced yesterday the roster of 29 athletes invited to the National Sports Commission’s CWG National Camp in Abuja for intensive final preparations.
The group consists of 14 men and 15 women, selected based on the outcomes of the recently concluded national trials at Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos and the current records of athletes who could not attend the trials because of visa problems.
Secretary‑General Israel Inwang said the athletes should report to the CWG camp in Abuja starting today, Thursday, 25 June 2026.
Nigeria’s athletics team will contest 18 events at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, including the three relays: men’s 4 × 100 metres, women’s 4 × 100 metres, and mixed 4 × 400 metres.
