ADC names Nakudu as winner of Jigawa governorship primary election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu is the winner of its governorship primary in Jigawa State.

The announcement came from the ADC Electoral Committee Chairman for Jigawa State, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Zaki Ahmed, after the collation process was completed and all remaining results were confirmed.

Earlier, the party had not yet declared a result more than 72 hours after the primaries began.

When speaking to journalists, DIG Ahmed said that results had been received from 19 of the 27 local government areas, while eight councils were still pending. Delays in the submission of results from Auyo, Roni, and Kazaure local government areas were the cause of the hold‑up.

Once all outstanding results were collated, the electoral committee declared the final outcome.

Ahmed reported that Hon. Bashir Adamu Jumbo received 19,537 votes, whereas Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu polled 35,939 votes.

“Based on the powers bestowed on me as Chairman of the Electoral Committee, I hereby declare Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu as the winner of the Jigawa State governorship primary election,” Ahmed stated.
