The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the figures released from the recent nationwide primary election.
Speaking to reporters, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi called the APC “liars” who are deceiving Nigerians with inflated numbers.
The remarks followed the APC’s announcement on Sunday that incumbent President Bola Tinubu had won the primary with 10.99 million votes.
In response, the opposition said, “APC are liars, deceiving and misleading Nigerians with inflated 11 million membership figures.”
“We are not going to set figures to deceive Nigerians. What the APC is doing would have been amusing and laughable if we didn’t know,” Abdullahi added.
He warned that the APC’s claims are an attempt to set the stage for rigging the 2027 general elections by asserting they have 11 million members.
“They should produce a verifiable membership register submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. We challenge them to do that if they claim to have such members,” he concluded.
