Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Accord Party, and other parties from participating in the 2027 general elections on the grounds of alleged constitutional violations.

The order was issued on Monday during the judgment in a lawsuit filed by a group of former lawmakers.

According to the ruling, former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar will have no party affiliation to contest the upcoming presidential election.

Likewise, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was expected to run for re‑election on the Accord Party platform in the August 15 governorship election, has been removed from the race.

The case, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026, was brought by the Incorporated Trustees of the National Forum of Former Legislators against INEC and several political parties, including the ADC, Action Alliance, APP, Accord Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
