47th CBN Senior Tennis Championship Concludes in Abuja

The 47th edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)‑sponsored Senior Tennis Championship opened yesterday at the Tennis Complex, Package B, Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The event will conclude with a grand final on June 20 at the same venue.

Competitors will contest men’s and women’s singles and doubles matches, as well as wheelchair events for both genders, featuring some of the country’s top tennis talent.

For almost fifty years, the championship has served as a key platform for discovering and developing players, many of whom have gone on to represent Nigeria at prestigious international competitions such as the Davis Cup and the All‑Africa Games.

Regarded as one of Nigeria’s most prestigious tennis tournaments, the CBN Senior Tennis Championship has highlighted outstanding athletes including Sunday Maku, David Imonite, Veronica Oyibokia‑Iwebema, Christy Agugbom, Sarah Adegoke, Sylvester Emmanuel, Joseph Imeh, Oyinlomo Quadri, and Marylove Edwards.

The championship continues to demonstrate the CBN’s commitment to youth development, sporting excellence, and the promotion of tennis throughout Nigeria.
