2026 World Cup: Lamouchi Becomes First Coach to Be Fired

Sabri Lamouchi has been dismissed as the head coach of Tunisia’s national team.

He is the first manager to lose his job during the 2026 World Cup.

Lamouchi was sacked a few days after the Carthage Eagles were defeated 5‑1 by Sweden in their opening match.

He will be succeeded by Mondher Kebaier.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “Tunisia head coach Sabri Lamouchi has been sacked after defeat on World Cup opening game against Sweden. Plans are under way to appoint Mondher Kebaier as the new national team coach on an interim basis, Federation confirm.”
